Recently, at the outfitting dock of Zhijiang Jiangrui Shipping Co., Ltd. in Yichang City, Hubei Province, the M.V. “Min Fan” weighed anchor, cast off lines, turned around, and headed east, embarking on its maiden green voyage.
It is reported that the M.V. “Min Fan” has an overall length of 129.97 meters, a molded breadth of 16.26 meters, a molded depth of 6.6 meters, a design draft of 4.6 meters, and a maximum container capacity of 430 TEU. It is suitable for sailing in Inland Waterway Class A navigation areas and J1 class navigation segments, and has been awarded the “Green Ship-2” additional notation by the China Classification Society (CCS).
The ship’s LNG single-fuel power plant utilizes technologies such as high-pressure common rail, micro-pilot ignition, full electronic control, and glycol secondary heat exchange, ensuring the stability and economy of LNG combustion while offering significant environmental advantages. Compared to traditional diesel-fueled ships, it reduces sulfur oxide emissions by nearly 100%, nitrogen oxide emissions by 85%, greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, and particulate matter emissions by nearly 80%. Concurrently, multiple innovative optimizations were implemented in the design. Through hydrodynamic calculations, the ship’s hull lines were reasonably optimized, ensuring operational economy. Through comprehensive optimization of the ship’s zone arrangement, adjustment of cargo hold width, and repositioning of container foot locations, not only was the maximum container capacity increased, but flexible stowage of both “standard containers” and “wide-body containers” was also achieved. This opens a new path for the direct loading of railway wide-body containers onto inland waterway vessels, creating conditions for rail-water intermodal transport.
The commissioning of the M.V. “Min Fan” marks the complete transition of the Minsheng Group’s container fleet to large-scale, standardized, green, and intelligent operations, contributing Minsheng’s strength to the construction of the Yangtze River outbound passage, the development of a modern collection and distribution system, and the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
