Marcura has acquired document automation start-up Shipster to expand its AI capabilities in maritime document processing, as the company looks to improve its automation framework and reduce manual workload for shipping professionals.
Marcura has already integrated AI-powered automation across its systems, supporting tasks such as Charter Party interpretation, predictive operational insights, and risk identification.
Shipster’s work in AI experimentation will be used to refine data extraction processes and automate resource-intensive tasks, with the company specialising in automating document processing, extracting and structuring data from shipping documents such as SOFs, LOIs, and BLs.
“This acquisition is about moving faster, scaling what works, and making automation more effective where it matters most,” said Henrik Hyldahn, Group CEO, Marcura.
“For our customers, that means reducing manual work, improving accuracy, and giving highly skilled professionals more time to focus on the decisions that drive real operational value.”
The deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions by Marcura, with the company having bought HubSE, VesselMan and ShipServ in the last two years to add to its stable of brands which already included DA-Desk, MarTrust, and PortLog.
