Tanker Amelia (IMO 9308778) en route from Istanbul with 24 crew members and a cargo of 3,000
metric tonnes of gas oil on board, was in collision with /oil products
tanker Tanab (IMO 9803429 ) which
was en route from Aliaga, Turkey, to Varna, Bulgaria with 16 crew members on
board, south of Karystos island shortly after midnight on July 7th. No
injuries, water pollution or water ingress were reported due to this incident.
Both vessels sailed with own power, but under the supervision of the Greek
Coast Guard, to Karystos anchorage for investigations, repairs and class
inspection.
2004-built, Malaysia-flagged, 28,799 gt Amelia is owned
by Amelie Ltd care of manager Alya Marine Sdn Bhd of Selangor, Malaysia. As of
July 9th the vessel was at Karystos Anchorage, Greece.
2017-built, Malta-flagged, 3,994 gt Tanab is owned by
Tanab Maritime & Trading Inc care of manager Nakkas Denizcilik ve Ticaret
AS (Nakkas Shipping & Trading Co Ltd) of Istanbul, Turkey. It is entered
with Skuld (Skuld Copenhagen) on behalf of Nakkas Denizcilik Ve Ticaret AS. As
of July 12th the vessel was moored at Varna, Bulgaria.
Permanent repairs to cargo ship Nika Fortune (IMO 8933095) could not be carried out because the
cost made such repairs unviable. The ship was sold to a scrap yard. A tug was
appointed to tow the vessel from Tuzla to Aliaga, where it arrived on July 3rd.
An environmental recycling process permission was issued from the local
authority, and the ‘Nika Fortune’s status changed from live to dead from flag
state authority as of July 5th. The Nika Fortune had suffered an engine failure
at Varna on May 1st. The Ayaz Bey (IMO 7531670) towed the ship to Tuzla.
1986-built, Palau-flagged, 1,861 gt Nika Fortune was
previously reported as owned and managed by Nika Fortune Shipping SA of
Kaliningrad, Russia. No AIS since June 9th.
Bulk carrier Bulk
Flower (IMO 9540168), which had suffered an engine failure at Douala on January
1st 2022, was subsequently sold to Turkey-based owners who appointed tug Amber II (IMO 9425423) to tow the
vessel to Tuzla for repairs. The towage operation commenced on May 26th, with
an ETA of July 14th.
2010-built, 16,042 gt Bulk Flower is owned and managed by
Deniz Endustrisi AS of Istanbul, Turkey. No recent AIS. Last tracked (in May)
at Douala, Cameroon.
Cargo ship Valeriy
Platonov (IMO 8888862) , en route from Samsun to Galati, suffered a
technical failure and moored at Sinop anchorage on July 8, 2022. Repairs were
commenced by the crew, and the vessel remained stationary as of July 9.
1982-built, Ukraine-flagged, 3,952 gt Valeriy Platonov is
owned and managed by Ukrrichflot JSC of Kiev, Ukraine. It is listed as entered
with Shipowners’ Club on behalf of Jssc Ukrichflot.
/oil products tanker Med Tuncer (IMO 9830599) which had suffered an engine failure at
Marmara Ereglisi and was towed to the Yasarsan Shipyard for repairs on June 12th,
arrived at the Yalova shipyard for assessment. A detailed damage survey was
carried out by a classification society surveyor together with the owner’s
superintendent. Subsequently permanent repairs have commenced as per the
surveyor’s recommendations. The vessel remained stationary at the shipyard as
of July 11th.
2019-built, Malta-flagged. 5,651 gt Med Tuncer is owned
by Sea Tankers 8 Ltd care of manager YMN Tanker Deniz of Istanbul, Turkey. It
is entered with Skuld (Skuld Copenhagen) on behalf of YMN Tanker Deniz
Isletmeciligi AS. As of July 11th it was stopped at Yalova, Marmara Sea,
Turkey.
