Passenger ship Birger
Jarl (IMO 5044893), which has been renamed Baltic Star but which has been
prohibited from use as a cruise ship, is now planned by owner Leif-Ivan
Karlsson to be used as accommodation for guest workers in the area. He said
that he was waiting for an announcement from the Kramfors municipality about a
temporary building permission. The Swedish Transport Administration has
launched an investigation into violations of the Ship Safety Act due to a
recent unpermitted move of the ship from one location in Sweden to another.

1953-built, Sweden-flagged, 3,564 gt Birger Jarl is owned
and managed by Karlsson AB of Stockholm, Sweden. No AIS since November 2020.

A passenger on cruise ship Color Fantasy (IMO 9278234) died during the early hours of August
18th after falling down several decks. The ship was en route from Kiel to Oslo
at the time. The current hypothesis is that it was an accident. Staff were
quick to the scene of the incident, but the man was confirmed dead at the
scene. Next of kin have been notified. As of August 22nd the vessel was
underway in Skagerrak en route to Oslo, ETA August 22nd.

2004-built, Norway-flagged, 75,027 gt Color Fantasy is
owned by Color Line Cruises AS care of manager Color Line Marine of Saandefjord,
Norway. It is entered with Gard P&I on behalf of Color Line Cruises AS. It
is entered with Gard AS as claims leader for Hull and Loss Of Hire.

A crew member of offshore tug / supply ship Maersk Minder (IMO 9765469) was injured
on August 17th due to a snapped wire on board the vessel when it was 97nm
west-northwest of Sumburgh, Shetland. A helicopter from ARCC was requested to
carry out a medevac of the 48-year-old Polish sailor. As of August 22nd the
vessel was underway from Montrose in Scotland to Bergen, Norway, ETA August
22nd.

2018-built, Norway-flagged, 10,181 gt Maersk Minder is
owned by Maersk Supply Service Norway care of manager Maersk Supply Service AS
of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is entered with Skuld (Business Unit Skuld Offshore)
on behalf of Maersk Supply Service AS.

Freighter Bangpakaew (IMO 9187801) was detained in Subic Bay, Philippines, for allegedly smuggling
some 7,000 tons of bagged sugar, the nation’s Bureau of Customs has said. The
ship arrived at Subic Bay on August 17th from Bangkok, and cargo documents were
checked, but were found to be forged, according to the BOC. Offloading had already
commenced.

1998-built, Thailand-flagged, 4,796 gt Bangpakaew is
owned and managed by Wong Samut Navigation Co Ltd of Bangkok, Thailand. It is
entered with Steamship Mutual (Eastern Syndicate) on behalf of Wong Samut
