Yesterday afternoon, the Port Authority of Corfu was informed by the Unified Coordination Center for Search and Rescue (ΕΚΣΕΔ) of the H.C.G. about a mechanical failure of a yacht (Y/T) flying the flag of the Cook Islands with five (05) foreign passengers (4 Ukrainian nationals and 1 Montenegrin national) which was sailing towards the port of Corfu.
Immediately, a Rescue vessel of the H.C.G. (R/V) departed for the area, and subsequently the Y/T started its engines and sailed under its own power to the pier of the Corfu Naval Sports Club (N.S.C.C.) with the passengers in good health. The Central Port Authority of Corfu prohibited the departure of the Y/T until a certificate of seaworthiness is presented. No marine pollution was observed from the incident.

Immediately, a Rescue vessel of the H.C.G. (R/V) as well as an additional private vessel departed for the area. The S/Y was guided with the assistance of the private vessel and escorted by the R/V to Garitsa Bay, where it docked safely with its passengers in good health. The Central Port Authority of Corfu prohibited the departure of the S/Y until a certificate of seaworthiness is presented by the recognized organization that monitors it. No marine pollution was observed from the incident.
-Yesterday evening, the Port Authority of Naxos was informed about the grounding of a sailing yacht (S/Y) flying the Greek flag with 4 passengers (Belgian nationals), which had run aground on a rocky point of the anchorage.
After an inspection by a private diver which confirmed minor damage to the left rudder, the S/Y was freed using its own means and subsequently moored at the Naxos marina. The incident resulted in a minor knee injury to one of the four passengers, who was transported to the Naxos Health Center for a medical check-up. The Port Authority of Naxos, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, prohibited the departure of the aforementioned vessel until a certificate of seaworthiness is presented by the surveyor who monitors it, while no water ingress was reported and no marine pollution was observed from the incident.
