The maritime authorities of Bangladesh have described the agreement as a turning point

Geneva – The Swiss logistics operator Medlog of the MSC group has signed a 22-year concession agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority to manage and operate the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal, giving a new opportunity to Bangladesh’s first river container terminal to become the main inland gateway of Dhaka. The maritime authorities of Bangladesh have described the agreement as a turning point for the terminal, inaugurated in 2013 but until now under-utilized compared to its designed capacity of 116 thousand TEUs per year. The government advisor for shipping, present at the ceremony as the guest of honor, described the signing as “a historic day for Bangladesh”, recalling that the terminal has accumulated significant operating losses over the last 12 years due to poor adoption by importers and exporters.
