Shipping World News, October 10th – Klaveness Combination Carriers ASA (hereinafter referred to as “KCC” or the company), under the Norwegian shipping company Torvald Klaveness, released its operational data for the third quarter of 2025.
Specifically, in the third quarter, the KCC combination carrier fleet achieved a daily average TCE of $28,921, reaching the high end of the expected range of $27,500-$29,000.
Among them, the CABU fleet’s daily average TCE was $30,062, slightly exceeding the expected range of $29,000-$30,000, continuing to outperform MR tankers by approximately 1.4 times.
In the third quarter, its CLEANBU fleet’s daily average TCE was $27,740, at the high end of the expected range of $26,000-$28,000, slightly higher than LR1 tankers, equivalent to 1.1 times.
KCC pointed out that compared to the second quarter, the daily average TCE for the CABU fleet and CLEANBU fleet increased by approximately $3,700 and $4,900, respectively.
KCC stated that the improvement in the CABU fleet’s TCE was mainly due to the strength of the caustic soda transportation market and increased freight volume. Meanwhile, the firm product tanker market, a robust dry bulk market, and more efficient trading also contributed positively. The improvement in the CLEANBU fleet’s TCE was primarily attributed to a stronger product tanker market.
As of now, the KCC combination carrier fleet consists of 8 CABU and 8 CLEANBU vessels. CABU combination carriers refer to vessels primarily transporting caustic soda solution and dry bulk cargo, with a deadweight of 72,500-80,500 tons. CLEANBU combination carriers, with a deadweight of 82,500 tons, are, in common terms, both LR1-type tankers and Kamsarmax-type dry bulk carriers.
Furthermore, a subsidiary of KCC has signed an order with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the construction of 3 CABU III type combination carriers, expected to be delivered from the first quarter to the third quarter of 2026.
