In mid-2026, the Netherlands Coast Guard will be reinforced with the Enforcer, a Damen FCS 5009 vessel, which will be deployed to provide additional support until a new generation of ships enters service.

The functions of the Coast Guard have expanded in recent years. For this reason, the Rijksrederij (Government Naval Agency, part of Rijkswaterstaat) gave instructions for the charter of the Enforcer. With this modern vessel, the Coast Guard will maintain its capacity to carry out its regular activities in the North Sea.

The Enforcer will be owned by Multraship, which will therefore also be responsible for the crew and maintenance. The ship will be under the operational command of the Netherlands Coast Guard.

“We are very proud that the Coast Guard and Rijksrederij have selected us for this job as well. It integrates perfectly with our current partners and we are pleased to contribute to safety in the North Sea,” said Leendert Muller, managing director of Multraship, a family-owned company based in Zeeland (Netherlands) with an international presence.

Thanks in part to the axe bow developed by Damen and the Delft University of Technology, the vessel reaches a maximum speed of 27 knots (about 50 kilometers per hour). In addition, it has two high-speed auxiliary boats for inspections and maritime surveillance. The vessel also has a towing system and a fire-fighting system.

Multraship already supplies the Rijksrederij with three Emergency Response and Towing Vessels (ERTV). The addition of the Enforcer strengthens this successful partnership between the government and its maritime partners.
