The Italian owner has welcomed a ship-assistance tug into its fleet following its construction in Turkey
Rimorchitori Napoletani has taken delivery of a new harbour tugboat from Sanmar Shipyards to raise its towage capabilities around a major Italian port.
Sanmar builtGargano as part of its Bogacay series of newbuild tugboats using Robert Allan Ltd’s RAmparts 2400SX- MKII design, which is exclusive to the Turkish shipbuilder. This 24-m tugboat was originally built as Bogacay LXXX with a bollard pull over the stern of 70 tonnes and a free running speed of at least 12 knots.
Rimorchitori Napoletani, with operations dating back to 1917, provides towage and ship-handling services in the Port of Naples, Italy.
Garganohas a moulded beam of 12 m, a FiFi1 fire-fighting system with two monitors, and twin diesel four-stroke, high-speed engines that are linked to a selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment system for reducing NOx emissions and compliance with IMO Tier III emissions standards. These drive two azimuth thrusters at the stern.
