Oceaneering charters US-flag MPSV for subsea IMR and installation work in US Gulf

Oceaneering International will use Harvey Deep Sea for subsea IMR and installation services in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)

A unit of Oceaneering International has entered into a vessel services agreement for the use of US-flag DP2-class multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV)Harvey Deep Sea in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America).

Harvey Deep Sea, currently chartered by Oceaneering through February 2027, is equipped with two Oceaneering Millennium work-class ROVs. The Jones Act-compliant MPSV will be used to perform subsea inspection, maintenance, repair and installation services in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America).

Built in 2013 and owned by Harvey Gulf International Marine,Harvey Deep Sea is a high-spec vessel, with an overall length of 92 m, beam of 20 m, depth of around 8 m and maximum draught of 6 m. It is equipped with an active heave-compensated NOV 165-tonne knuckle-boom subsea crane, with the capability to lift or set at depths of 3,000 m. The light construction vessel has ABS class notations for ABS-A1, AMS, ACCU, Circle E, ENVIRO+, Green Passport, NBLES, CRC, HELDK, Offshore Support Vessel and FFV-2, along with IMO SOLAS certification.

Offshore Projects Group (OPG) senior vice president, Chris Dyer, said, “This award not only secures vessel backlog in the region but also allows us to optimise our equipment spreads and reduce scheduling uncertainty.”

Oceaneering International’s OPG provides a broad portfolio of integrated subsea solutions for completions, construction, well intervention and IMR activities. To support these activities, as of Q2 2025, it was employing a fleet of a combination of 10 owned and chartered vessels.
