Recently, AD Ports Group announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Dajin Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. to establish long-term cooperation in areas such as offshore wind power supply chain construction, maritime logistics, port infrastructure, and strategic vessel investment.
This cooperation builds upon a series of strategic initiatives and collaborative projects undertaken by AD Ports Group in the renewable energy and offshore industry sectors in recent years. Previously, the Group had signed cooperation agreements with Masdar, Siemens Energy, and Green Parrot, and acquired the Spanish professional offshore wind construction enterprise Balenciaga Astilleros Shipyard, continuously enhancing its service capabilities in the offshore energy industry chain.
According to the agreement, both parties will fully leverage their respective advantages in manufacturing, logistics, and maritime services to jointly promote the development of offshore wind power and energy infrastructure projects in Europe and other key markets.
Under the framework of the memorandum, both parties will focus on exploring cooperation opportunities in areas such as transportation solutions for offshore wind power equipment and key components, construction of offshore wind pre-assembly bases, joint participation in bidding for specific offshore wind projects and industrial project development, as well as manufacturing, assembly, and logistics services for offshore energy infrastructure.
Friedrich Portner, Chief Commercial Officer of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, stated: “We are very pleased to establish a partnership with Dajin Heavy Industry to jointly explore opportunities to leverage our maritime and logistics capabilities to support the development of the offshore wind industry. Offshore wind is one of the strategic growth areas we are focusing on. Through this cooperation, we hope to provide more integrated and efficient solutions for the renewable energy value chain.”
Walid Oulmane, Chief Commercial Officer for New Products at Dajin Heavy Industry, stated: “This Memorandum of Understanding provides an exciting opportunity for both parties to integrate industrial manufacturing strength, maritime expertise, and long-term strategic vision. We believe that the two companies can work together to create significant value and jointly support the global energy transition process.”
Currently, the global offshore wind market is maintaining a strong growth trend. Countries accelerating their decarbonization goals, continued growth in renewable energy investment, and the expanding scale of offshore wind installations in Europe, Asia, and emerging markets are becoming the main drivers of industry growth.
Industry forecasts indicate that the global offshore wind market size will grow from $109 billion in 2026 to $307.5 billion in 2035, fully reflecting the large-scale development trend and increasingly important strategic position of offshore wind in the global energy transition.
It is understood that Dajin Heavy Industry was established in 2000 and listed on the main board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2010. It is the first listed company in the domestic wind power tower industry. After 20 years of deep cultivation in the industry, Dajin Heavy Industry has firmly established itself in the pioneering echelon of the global wind power equipment manufacturing industry. The company’s main products include: full series of offshore /onshore wind towers, transition pieces, foundation sections, large steel pipe piles, deep-sea jackets, floating foundations, offshore substations, and other products.
Currently, Dajin Heavy Industry’s products and services are gradually extending from offshore wind foundation equipment manufacturing to areas such as deep-sea special transportation, ship design and construction, and wind power mother port operations, and are further laying out the construction of new energy development and operation businesses, achieving a transformation and upgrade from a product supplier to a system service provider, meeting customers’ one-stop, diversified needs.
In May this year, Dajin Heavy Industry signed a construction contract with the well-known Dutch shipowner JUMBO Marine for two new-generation green intelligent multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels of 25,000 deadweight tons. This signing marks the beginning of long-term industrial cooperation between the two parties, with subsequent cooperation to be expanded to full-chain collaboration in offshore engineering vessel construction, offshore wind power engineering, and deep-sea equipment services. This is also an important measure for Dajin Heavy Industry to promote its integrated layout of “equipment manufacturing + shipbuilding + offshore engineering” and solidify its European business foundation.
