PIOMBINO – The approval of the amendment to the Tax Decree by the Senate Finance Committee brings new resources for the port of Piombino and relaunches the infrastructural development prospects of the Tuscan port. The measure, which goes to the Chamber for final conversion, provides for an allocation of 30 million euros for 2027 and an additional 62 million for 2028, intended for the strengthening of port infrastructure, with particular attention to the completion of the north quay.

The president of the Livorno delegation of Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa, Giovanni Laviosa, intervenes with a note to comment on the measure, underlining the strategic importance of the intervention for the territory and for the local production system.

“The news of the approval by the Senate Finance Committee” – comments Laviosa – “of the amendment to the Tax Decree which allocates 30 million euros for 2027 and 62 million for 2028 to the strengthening of the infrastructural endowments of the port of Piombino, in particular for the completion of the north quay, represents an extremely positive signal for the entire territory”, declares Laviosa, highlighting how it is a long-awaited measure.

The intervention is part of the broader path of industrial relaunch of the Piombino area and aims to strengthen the role of the port as a strategic logistical and productive hub for the Tuscan coast. The planned works, already included in the Program Agreements, are also considered fundamental to support the reindustrialization projects of the steel hub and to guarantee positive effects on the employment front.

“We are talking about strategic works, already provided for by the Program Agreements” – continues Laviosa – “which can significantly contribute to the success of the reindustrialization projects of the Piombino steel hub, with significant effects also on the level of employment protection. The completion of port infrastructure constitutes an essential step to increase the competitiveness of the port and strengthen the entire production system of the coast”.

Finally, the president of the Livorno delegation of Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa draws attention to the need to proceed rapidly with the next operational phases, so that the allocated resources can translate into concrete and timely interventions.

“Now — concludes Laviosa — it is essential that the allocation is followed by certain times for the design, the opening of construction sites and the start of works. Companies need modern, efficient and competitive connections and infrastructural endowments: this intervention can mark a turning point for the attractiveness of the territory, supporting industry, logistics and employment”.
