Roma, – The Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, has rejected hypotheses of disagreements with the Ministry of Economy and Finance regarding the port reform, inviting the Democratic Party to present its own proposals in Parliament. Rixi explained that the government chose the parliamentary path to foster debate on the reform of the Italian port and maritime system.
“It makes one smile” – the Deputy Minister Rixi stated in a note – “that the Democratic Party continues to engage in propaganda in newspapers instead of doing its job in Parliament, where it can present all its proposals on the port reform… assuming it has one. For now, rather than alternatives, one only hears slogans and pre-packaged polemics. Furthermore, there is no disagreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance: the reconstructions circulated in recent hours are groundless. Arbitrary assessments are also being spread regarding the figures and methods. The government, precisely to foster maximum debate and transparent dialogue with all political forces and sector operators, has chosen the parliamentary path for this reform. We will see if the opposition political forces will have the necessary maturity to face a debate that can contribute to improving the Italian port and maritime system at a time when geopolitical tensions should lead everyone to place the country’s interest at the center of their agenda.”
