Railway construction continues to advance, with fixed asset investment exceeding 200 billion yuan in the first four months

BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) — China’s railway construction progressed with high quality and efficiency in the first four months of this year, with fixed-asset investment reaching 200.8 billion yuan, up 3.2 percent year on year, effectively leveraging its radiating and driving role and injecting new momentum into regional economic and social development, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) on Monday.

Since the beginning of this year, China Railway has focused on serving major national strategies and regional economic and social development, fully utilized the national “two major” support policies, and seized the golden construction period in spring to accelerate railway planning and construction, said an official from the construction department of China Railway. In April, the joint commissioning and testing of the Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway and the Shandong section of the Xiong’an-Shangqiu High-Speed Railway progressed smoothly, with the maximum test speed reaching 385 km/h, laying a solid foundation for opening and operation; the Xi’an-Ankang High-Speed Railway and the Wenling-Yuhuan section of the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou High-Speed Railway successively initiated static acceptance.

Meanwhile, China Railway organized all participating units to coordinate construction resources, optimize construction organization, strengthen safety and quality management, and promote positive progress in the construction of key projects. In Shanxi, track laying began on the North Taihang Mountain Tunnel of the Xiong’an-Xinzhou High-Speed Railway, undertaken by China Railway 11th Bureau Group, marking the full entry of the Shanxi section of the Xiongxin High-Speed Railway into the track-laying phase. In Henan, the Qinyang Beam Yard, the largest beam yard along the Jiaozuo-Pingdingshan Railway undertaken by China Railway 23rd Bureau Group, completed civil construction and is about to enter the stage of large-scale box girder prefabrication. In Jiangxi, at the construction site of the Ruijin-Meizhou Railway, a key railway project connecting the two old revolutionary base areas of Ruijin in Jiangxi and Meizhou in Guangdong, main construction of control projects such as the Jingshan Tunnel and Dunnao Tunnel, undertaken by China Railway 25th Bureau Group, has been completed, and project construction is progressing in an orderly manner.

Going forward, China Railway will fully implement all key railway engineering construction tasks determined by the “15th Five-Year Plan,” scientifically and orderly advance railway planning and construction, continuously improve the scale and quality of the railway network, accelerate the construction of a world-class modern railway network, and provide strong support for promoting high-quality economic and social development in China, said the official from the construction department of China Railway.
