Meanwhile the port has become a national offshore wind hub thanks to the Mase Decree
Rome – The execution of dredging in the port of Taranto, an essential intervention to make the port seabed fully operational and accommodate higher capacity ships: was one of the topics addressed by the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini and Erhan Ciloglu, deputy chief executive officer of the /Corex group. Among the main international operators in the logistics and port handling sector, the Turkish group operates in Taranto through its subsidiary San Cataldo Container Terminal S.p.A. (Scct), concessionaire of the areas and the quay of the Multisectoral Pier, destined to become a multipurpose terminal of strategic relevance for the Mediterranean. The objective is to enhance commercial traffic and the development of the local logistics chain, with particular attention to the handling of containers, general cargo and rolling stock.
“We presented to Minister Salvini the preeminent issue of dredging in the port of Taranto, finding attention and a climate of concrete collaboration. The Minister recognized the strategic importance of the Ionian port and confirmed his commitment to work with all parties involved to identify shared and lasting solutions,” stated the Extraordinary Commissioner of the AdSP of the Ionian Sea, Giovanni Gugliotti. “We welcome with satisfaction the official status of the Mase decree, which will open new important opportunities for economic, employment and sustainable development for the area, representing a fundamental step for Taranto and for the national energy transition”.
