GTT has received two orders from Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries for the tank design of seven new LNG carriers, on behalf of an unnamed European shipowner
GTT will design the tanks of these sevenvessels, which willeachoffer a capacity of 174,000m3. The tanks will be fitted with the company’s Mark III flex membrane containment system.
The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between Q1 2026 and Q4 2027.
The Mark III system received approval in principle from DNV and Bureau Veritas earlier this year. Driven by the booming market for new LNG ships, GTT has continued to add to its tank design backlog, adding new orders for 20 LNGCs in October including an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries for seven 174,000-m3 LNG newbuilds and eight LNGC orders in November.
