On August 27, the festive sound of a ship’s whistle once again rang out at the Sandianshui Wuhan New Waterway Shipyard wharf — the second 110-meter-class LNG-powered multi-purpose vessel of the month, the “Guotong 1001,” held its launching ceremony here. Just on August 10, the sister ship “Yongliang 003,” built at the same shipyard, had successfully completed its launching. The “dual launches in quick succession” within a short span of 17 days marks Sandianshui’s entry into a new phase of intensive deliveries for its standardized LNG-powered vessel construction.
Tracing back to the project’s inception, on January 18, 2025, Sandianshui New Energy Co., Ltd. formally signed agreements with Wuhan Yongliang Shipping Co., Ltd. and Hubei Guotong Shipping Co., Ltd. to build a total of 10 standardized 110-meter-class LNG-powered multi-purpose vessels. The recently launched “Yongliang 003” and “Guotong 1001” are precisely the standardized ships from this batch order.
According to reports, this vessel type features distinct “green + efficient” characteristics: with an overall length of 109.98 meters, a beam of 19.20 meters, and a depth of 8.00 meters, it utilizes an LNG single-fuel power system. Compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels, it can achieve approximately a 25% reduction in carbon emissions and over an 85% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions. In terms of design, the vessel innovatively adopts a round stern, vertical bow, and inward-rotating twin-skeg hull lines, paired with a twin-engine, twin-propeller, twin-rudder configuration and a single-deck all-steel structure. This not only provides superior navigation stability and maneuverability but also effectively reduces sailing resistance. The cargo hold area features a long, large-opening design with raised decks at the bow and stern. The cargo hold area has a double-bottom, double-side structure, while the bow and stern are of single-bottom design, enabling it to simultaneously meet the transportation needs of bulk cargo (such as coal and ore) and containers (20-foot standard containers). Both the single-vessel cargo capacity and route adaptability are at a leading level among vessels of the same class.
“To ensure the on-time delivery of the order, we have established a ‘weekly meeting + daily communication’ collaboration mechanism with the client’s project team. From raw material procurement and block construction to equipment debugging, every stage involves advance planning and close monitoring of progress,” said the Sandianshui New Energy project leader. As the builder, Wuhan New Waterway Shipyard has fully leveraged its technical and production capacity advantages, achieving the “back-to-back launching” of two sister ships in August, embracing the new journey of intensive order deliveries with the drive of “dual launches.”
It is understood that Sandianshui New Energy Technology Co. is a strategic enterprise for inland and coastal new energy vessels under Wuhu Shipyard, with a strong industrial background. Focusing on the goal of electrifying the Yangtze River, Sandianshui New Energy has taken the lead in布局 (laying out) the midstream Yangtze River market. It has established its national headquarters in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, focusing on deepening the East China regional market, and has currently established green intelligent ship industrial bases in Wuhu City and Chizhou City. It has set up a Central China regional headquarters in Wuhan City to deeply cultivate the “Two Lakes, One River, Sichuan-Chongqing” market and has currently established the Wuhan Waterway Shipyard manufacturing base. In the future, it will also establish a South China regional headquarters to deeply cultivate the Guangdong-Guangxi, Fujian, and Hainan markets, thereby achieving the goal of full coverage in the southern water system market.
On January 18 of this year, the Sandianshui New Energy Technology Central China Regional Headquarters was officially inaugurated in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone. During the ceremony, Sandianshui New Energy集中签约 (signed集中 agreements) with Wuhan Yongliang Shipping Co., Ltd., Hubei Guotong Shipping Co., Ltd., and Hubei Delai Shipping Co., Ltd. for 12 10,000-ton-class LNG-powered bulk carriers. This represents the first batch order for the Sandianshui New Energy Central China Regional Headquarters. The new vessels will be used for Yangtze River shipping trade and will also have significant demonstrative effects and profound implications for the research on application scenarios, product R&D, manufacturing, supply chain models, and the development of the industrial chain ecosystem for green standard vessel types on the Yangtze River.
As a key布局 (layout) for the company’s strategy on inland and coastal new energy vessels, the Sandianshui New Waterway Shipyard is a new, intelligent, green ship manufacturing base that汇聚 (gathers) cutting-edge technology, rich experience, and strong capabilities. The shipyard始终坚持 (persistently adheres to) innovation-driven development, having assembled a professional R&D team composed of industry elites, and is fully committed to cultivating new quality productive forces, aiming to set a new benchmark in the green intelligent ship industry.
