According to shipping news from the Shipping Network, Scorpio Tankers disclosed the latest TCE data for its fleet in the second quarter. During the second quarter, the daily charter rate for its LR2 fleet in the spot market reached $80,000, a decrease from $101,000 per day in early May.
Specifically, Scorpio Tankers disclosed that in the second quarter, the estimated daily charter rate for the LR2 fleet in the spot market reached $80,000, with 88% of operating days already locked in; the MR fleet’s spot market daily charter rate reached $53,000, with 90% of operating days locked in; and the Handymax fleet’s spot market daily charter rate reached $54,000, with 80% of operating days locked in.
Data shows that although there was a decline compared to early May figures, compared to the first quarter, the average daily TCE for the LR2 fleet surged by 79.6%, the MR fleet rose by 60.8%, and the Handymax fleet increased by 55.1%.
As of now, Scorpio Tankers controls 81 product tankers, including 31 LR2 tankers, 36 MR tankers, and 14 Handymax tankers, with an average fleet age of 10.2 years. This includes 6 LR2 tankers and 1 MR tanker that Scorpio Tankers has signed agreements to sell, expected to be delivered in the second and third quarters of 2026. Additionally, in terms of newbuilds, Scorpio Tankers holds 6 MR tankers, scheduled for delivery in 2026, 2027, and 2030; 2 VLCCs scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2028; and 4 LR2 product tankers scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2029.
