The operation will ensure the injection of regasified natural gas from the future Oristano FSRU into the soon-to-be-built transport network in Sardinia
San Donato Milanese – Snam has signed an agreement with the shareholders of Higas, the owner of the Oristano coastal LNG depot, to begin an exclusive period of analysis and negotiation regarding the possible acquisition of 100% of the company’s share capital, as well as the expansion and conversion of the current coastal depot into a floating regasification terminal (FSRU).
Once finalized, the operation will be able to allow the injection of regasified natural gas from the future Oristano FSRU into the soon-to-be-built transport network in Sardinia, which will serve the industrial and thermoelectric center-south segment of the island and the users in the provinces of Cagliari, Oristano, Medio Campidano and Sulcis Iglesiente.
The installation of the FSRU will also be able to allow the supply of natural gas volumes necessary for the region’s gas grid development, while simultaneously increasing the storage capacity by about ten times compared to the current one.
