A shipmanagement arm of Stena Group will roll out a digital tool across its offices and managed vessels to structure workflows, generate reports and identify issues to fix

Stena Group’s Northern Marine Management will adopt a digital inspection reporting platform across its managed fleet following a successful pilot trial.

Northern Marine expects this digital tool to structure its digital workflow for capturing findings from inspections, and producing reports.

It should cut the time for producing inspection reports and increase efficiency of administration and documentation for onshore personnel.

Northern Marine will deploy Kaiko Systems across its fleet, starting with the shore reporting module to support inspection teams and shipmanagers to generate timely vessel reports.

“This partnership supports our goal of reducing administrative burden while strengthening operational standards across the fleet,” said Northern Marine Management fleet director Michael Hackett.

During the pilot, Northern Marine saw a reduction in the time required to complete inspection reports, helping shore teams deliver documentation more efficiently while maintaining a consistent and structured approach to reporting.

“By making the reporting process more efficient and improving consistency in how findings are captured and followed up, we can better support crews while maintaining a clear focus on vessel condition, readiness and operational standards,” said Mr Hackett.

Northern Marine intends to adopt other digital tools to support daily operations, improve the consistency and quality of reporting, and help teams act swiftly on findings raised during vessel inspections.

Kaiko Systems has been acquired by UniSea to further expand its vessel fleet management services and to help shipmanagers prepare ships for inspections.
