At Posidonia 2022, ClassNK general manager of the planning division Katsuya Naito explained the purpose behind the newly formed Zero-Emission Transition Accelerator
Strictly speaking, ClassNK founded the Zero-Emission Transition Accelerator (ZETA) in October 2021 and this was its first Posidonia.
ZETA is an amalgamation of services, some of which were offered to ClassNK clients before the formation of ZETA, and other services that have been added.
Mr Naito explained the purpose behind the formation of ZETA, “Many shipping companies are addressing emissions and have fixed targets to attain, and our task is to co-operate with them to achieve those targets.”
ZETA is part of a range of services through which ClassNK is providing four levels of zero-emissions support services.
As mentioned, ZETA is part of the second level of GHG emissions management tools.
ClassNK developed ZETA as a tool for visualising CO2 emissions from ships, which is linked with the ClassNK MRV portal supporting compliance to MRV schemes such as IMO DCS and EU-MRV regulations.
