“Rina has successfully completed the class transfer for all four Azamara ships”. This was announced by a joint note from the Genoese company and the US cruise line controlled by Royal Caribbean.

Azamara chose Rina as its classification partner “after examining the technical capabilities, the global support structure and the alignment on operational priorities” stated the Italian classification body. The transfer (from Lloyd’s register according to the Equasis portal) included a complete analysis of the documentation, explained Rina, the technical due diligence and the on-board inspections of the Azamara Quest, the Azamara Journey, the Azamara Pursuit and the Azamara Onward.

The on-board inspections were completed thanks to the close collaboration between Rina’s US and European teams and Azamara’s technical management. “The transition of our four ships to the Rina class register reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and the highest standards of safety at sea” stated Dondra Ritzenthaler, CEO of Azamara. “During this process – she added – Rina demonstrated professionalism, deep competence and a clear understanding of our brand and our priorities. We appreciate this partnership and its role in supporting the exceptional experiences we offer our guests around the world”.

“This class transition marks an important technical milestone for our fleet. The transition was executed smoothly, without any impact on our deployment or guest operations; a merit of the solid coordination between our team and Rina” added Minas Miliaras, chief maritime officer of Azamara.

Rina stated that the continuous growth of the cruise industry towards more personalized and experience-based itineraries requires higher standards of safety and environmental performance: “The partnership with Azamara positions both companies to face future regulatory and operational challenges”.

“Welcoming the entire Azamara fleet into Rina class is a source of pride for our US organization. It reflects not only the trust of an exceptional cruise brand, but also the strength of our technical teams and our expanding presence in North America” stated Cristina Melado, president of Rina North America.

“This class transition is the result of extraordinary teamwork and excellent synergy between Rina and Azamara. Azamara operates with a strong focus on safety, guest experience and operational reliability; values that align perfectly with Rina’s mission and technical culture” added Michele Landro, vice president of the passenger ships segment of Rina North America.
