On August 1st, the grand opening and commencement ceremony of Jiangxi Xinxiangsheng Shipyard, a Fujian-origin enterprise successfully introduced through investment promotion by the Jiujiang Fujian Chamber of Commerce and ultimately established in Pengze, was held with great fanfare.

Guests from government departments, classification societies, cooperative shipowners, the Jiujiang Fujian Chamber of Commerce, former second-level inspector of Pingtan, equipment suppliers, construction units, as well as company shareholders, all employees, and friends from various sectors gathered together to witness the launch of this “industrial giant.”

On the same day, Xinxiangsheng Shipyard commenced construction on five 119.98-meter LNG-powered inland river container/bulk dual-purpose vessels for Nanchang Poyang Lake Shipping Co., Ltd. The two parties officially signed the construction contract on July 2, with a total value exceeding 100 million yuan.

The new vessels have a deadweight tonnage of 14,200 tons and can carry 603 TEU containers. Equipped with dual engines, dual propellers, and bow thrusters, they offer enhanced maneuverability. As a landmark project in Jiangxi Province’s new energy shipbuilding industry, these vessels adopt LNG clean energy power systems, reducing carbon emissions by over 40% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 90% compared to traditional fuel-powered ships. They combine energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and high-efficiency transportation, with designs meeting the latest industry standards and regulatory requirements. Their technical indicators lead the industry, and operational costs are reduced by 30%.

The series of vessels feature a full-chain, one-stop solution provided by CIMC Blue Water, covering LNG tanks, gas supply systems, refueling, and other processes, ensuring the safe and efficient flow of “green blood” and injecting enduring power for long voyages. They are equipped with Weichai Heavy Machinery’s independently developed “dual-fuel micro-pilot ignition engines,” which achieve a perfect balance between high-efficiency combustion and ultra-low emissions through industry-leading adaptive oil-gas control technology, setting a benchmark for green upgrades in marine power.

Once operational, these vessels will form a closed-loop green industrial chain encompassing “construction-operation-energy supply,” driving coordinated development in LNG-powered ship equipment R&D, clean energy supply, and related industries in Jiangxi Province. They will serve as a demonstrative model for the Yangtze River Economic Belt’s “dual carbon” goals.

It is reported that Jiangxi Xinxiangsheng Shipyard Co., Ltd. is located in Pengze County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, and was formerly known as Jiujiang Xiangsheng Shipyard Co., Ltd. Under a “rescue plan” led by the Jiujiang and Pengze governments, the company completed asset restructuring by introducing strategic investors from Fujian and officially established Jiangxi Xinxiangsheng Shipyard Co., Ltd. in 2024, becoming one of Jiujiang’s three key projects to build a 100-billion-yuan shipbuilding industry.

Xinxiangsheng Shipyard covers an area of approximately 360 acres, featuring a 10,000-ton outfitting dock, a 50,000-ton semi-dry dock (equipped with a 400-ton gantry crane), two 35,000-ton semi-dry docks, and a 30,000-ton slipway. It is equipped with advanced plasma CNC cutting machines, a 1,200-ton hydraulic press, indoor assembly workshops, and specialized painting and stainless steel processing workshops.

Xinxiangsheng Shipyard has invested heavily in industrial upgrades, adding a 400-ton large gantry crane (70-meter span), a PSPC-compliant “one-spray-three-coat” workshop, an indoor block manufacturing workshop, and a dedicated stainless steel workshop. It has introduced automated welding robot production lines to build a smart manufacturing system, focusing on high-value-added ship types such as LNG-powered vessels and chemical tankers. Annual production capacity has surged to 200,000 deadweight tons, with full-capacity annual output value reaching 2 billion yuan.

Earlier, on July 25, Xinxiangsheng Shipyard also entered into a strategic partnership with Sandianshui New Energy Technology (Anhui) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wuhu Shipyard, to collaborate deeply in the field of new energy vessels. Leveraging the vast market potential of the new energy shipbuilding industry, both parties will combine their strengths to establish a long-term, stable strategic partnership.

In terms of resource sharing, Xinxiangsheng Shipyard will prioritize providing stable shoreline, shipyard, and slipway resources to ensure the partner achieves a certain annual output value at its construction base. Sandianshui New Energy, in turn, will provide stable shipbuilding orders and support in planning, process quality, and supplier coordination, achieving complementary advantages.

For industrial chain collaboration, the two parties will jointly tackle intelligent technologies for green-powered vessel equipment such as liquefied natural gas, batteries, methanol, and hydrogen fuel. They will establish green and smart standard systems for inland vessels, cultivate related enterprises, develop standardized and serialized ship models, and create replicable demonstration applications to foster a healthy industrial ecosystem. They will also explore new profit-sharing models, attracting multiple stakeholders to participate in ship leasing, facility sharing, battery-swapping, and smart operations and maintenance, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Jiang Guocai, General Manager of Xinxiangsheng Shipyard, stated that as a privately owned comprehensive shipbuilding and repair enterprise integrating R&D, design, manufacturing, and self-operated import/export, Xinxiangsheng Shipyard holds a Class I, Category II shipbuilding qualification and has completed CCSC certification. It has experience in building various vessel types, including unlimited navigation zone oil tankers, chemical tankers, and offshore vessels, and has established a robust quality management and inspection system with standardized processes.

In the future, Xinxiangsheng Shipyard will remain market-oriented, leveraging its existing advantages to focus on emerging fields such as new energy vessels. It will continuously enhance R&D and manufacturing capabilities, expand production capacity, and strive for breakthroughs in shipbuilding quality and technical standards, providing customers with superior products and services while contributing to industry development.
