The first SPP40 offshore platform supply vessel built by CIMC Pacific Offshore was launched.

On July 10, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) held the launching ceremony for its first SPP40 oil platform supply vessel (hull number: S1095).

Attending the ceremony were distinguished guests including Chen Hong, Senior Expert and General Manager of the Ship Division at CDB Financial Leasing; Zhang Jia, Deputy General Manager of the Ship Division at CDB Financial Leasing; Weng Huigan, General Manager of SPEC; Ulrich Adami, General Manager of Hartmann; Chen Biao, Vice President of Bureau Veritas China; Gao Wenbao, Vice President of CIMC Enric and General Manager of CIMC SOE; Wang Jianding, Executive Deputy General Manager of CIMC SOE; Lou Jiwei, Senior Advisor; and Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Division, among other leaders and guests.

Before the ceremony began, Ma Qianjing, Deputy Director of the HSE Department at CIMC SOE, provided a detailed safety briefing to all attendees, outlining precautions and emergency measures to ensure the event proceeded safely and smoothly. The ceremony then officially commenced with an uplifting drum performance.

Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Division at CIMC SOE, delivered the welcome speech. On behalf of all employees, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to SPEC, CDB Financial Leasing, the BV team, Hartmann’s supervision team, Qianyao Heavy Industry, and project team members for their strong support and professional collaboration, emphasizing that their cooperation ensured the project’s safety, quality, and efficient progress. Moving forward, the company will continue to deepen collaboration with all stakeholders, including shipowners and classification societies, to ensure successful project delivery.

Chen Hong, Senior Expert and General Manager of the Ship Division at CDB Financial Leasing, extended sincere appreciation to all builders and partners in his speech. He praised the professionalism of the SPEC team and the construction capabilities of CIMC SOE, noting that the S1095 vessel, with its cutting-edge design and high-end configuration, represents industry-leading standards. Its successful launching marks a new milestone in industrial-financial collaboration. CDB Financial Leasing will further strengthen cooperation with industry partners to jointly advance the high-quality development of offshore equipment.

Weng Huigan, General Manager of SPEC, stated that the successful launch of the S1095 vessel embodies the collective wisdom and hard work of multiple parties. As SPEC’s first SPP40 offshore vessel, its construction overcame the technical challenges of a prototype ship. The launch signifies a new beginning for SPEC’s business development. According to reports, this multi-functional oil platform supply vessel measures 81.75 meters in length, 17.40 meters in width, and 7.8 meters in depth, with a design draft of 6.3 meters and a deadweight of 4,000 tons. It is equipped with two tunnel bow thrusters and two azimuth thrusters, featuring a hybrid power system and classified by Bureau Veritas. The vessel boasts advanced capabilities, including an unmanned engine room, seven-day zero-emission operation, a secondary dynamic positioning system, Class 1 external firefighting, oil spill recovery, and a vibration and noise comfort rating of Level 3. Its 800-square-meter deck is designed to transport methanol, fresh water, fuel, cement, mud, drilling water, and other deck cargo.

Earlier this year, CDB Financial Leasing announced contracts with CIMC SOE and Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering to build four offshore support vessels (OSVs), each costing $30 million. These vessels mark CDB Financial Leasing’s first newbuild OSVs, as its current fleet includes no offshore assets.

The successful launch of the S1095 vessel demonstrates CIMC SOE’s solid progress in expanding the offshore vessel market and serving the global marine engineering sector.
