The 62nd edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show has started in Barcelona with great strength and novelties. One of the most striking is the Àgora Port space of the Port of Barcelona in the Drassanes Terminal. Precisely at the debut of this space for reference, dialogue, and dissemination of the Boat Show, Josep Antoni Llopart, the event’s director, welcomed those present. “The Boat Show has a very marked roadmap with a plan to be executed in the next four years with the aim of recovering the internationality it had then and taking advantage of the legacy that the America’s Cup has left us in this regard,” he stated.
There will be more than 500 exhibitors and another novelty will be that for the first time in recent years, the number of large-length vessels will double, increasing from 10% to 20%. The general director of the Port of Barcelona, Álex García, wanted to emphasize that “we are facing one of the most ambitious editions of the Boat Show in recent years,” he affirmed.
Àgora Port
In the Drassanes Terminal, we find this space for dissemination and dialogue which, during the four days of the Show, will host more than 30 activities, ranging from innovation and artificial intelligence, the blue economy, or the role of women in the maritime sector, among others. “We have always shown our commitment to innovation and the blue economy, and for this reason, we had to be present at the Boat Show,” stated Álex Garcia, who took the opportunity to confirm that if the works progress as planned, the Blue Tech Port, the main hub of the blue economy, located very close to this Àgora Port, on the Moll de Sant Bertran, will be completed in 2028.
Stability in registrations in September
The recreational boat market in Spain closed the January-September period with 4,339 registrations, which represents a decrease of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2024. Despite this decrease, the data seems to point to stability as they did not fall as much as in August (5.3%). Once again, vessels up to 6 meters in length are the ones with the most registrations, with a total of 3,023, accounting for 69.7% of the total up to September.
