Global uncertainty continues to mark the annual freight traffic in Spanish ports of general interest, as shown by the 0.7% decrease in October 2025 compared to the same period last year. It is true that this decrease is the smallest of the last few months, which demonstrates the recovery that was already indicated in September, compared to the summer months. General cargo registered a 0.2% decrease in the first ten months of the year while TEUs registered a 2.4% increase, exceeding 15.6 million units by October.
For their part, liquid bulks broke the downward trend in October with a 0.2% increase, reaching almost 150 million tons, thanks to the recovery of gasoline, natural gas, and chemicals. Ro-ro traffic also grew with a 3% increase, approaching 63 million tons. Finally, passenger traffic increased by 4.8% by October compared to the same period in 2024, almost exceeding 37 million movements.
