Port Tarragona very positively values the draft of the new planning by Red Eléctrica Española for the period 2025-2030, which will improve the electricity transmission grid. The 184 million investment announced by Red Eléctrica will ensure the growth of the Port of Tarragona and the ability to meet the objectives set for energy transition for ports at both the state and European level. “The investments announced by Red Eléctrica Española in its 2025-2030 planning are excellent news for the territory. It was a long-standing demand and now we can say that we have achieved the objective,” stated the president of the Port de Tarragona, Santiago J Castellà.
The top representative of the Port Authority wanted to highlight the joint work and coordination with the rest of the involved actors that have made it possible for the major demands of the Tarragona productive sector to be taken into account. “It has been two years of intense work, led by the Port of Tarragona. I must thank the work done by the entire technical team of the Port Authority as well as the coordination with AEQT and also with Pimec, which have been key in achieving this objective that will benefit the entire region of Tarragona,” indicated the president, Santiago J Castellà.
Tarragona renews its leadership in vehicle logistics
Port Tarragona leads for the second consecutive year the ‘Assessment of Maritime-Port Logistics’ ranking prepared by the National Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac). The automotive sector rates the logistical services offered by the Port of Tarragona with a 4.5 out of 5. In this way, the Tarragona infrastructure repeats last year’s score and maintains the leadership. As a notable fact, it should be mentioned that Tarragona is the only port in the Spanish port system that manages to exceed 4 points in all categories.
The highest-rated categories have been accessibility by rail (4.9) and by road (4.8), the proactivity of the Port Authority (4.8), customs procedures (4.8), and the handling of vehicles in the storage areas (4.7). This is the second year that Tarragona leads this ranking alone and the sixth in the last ten years, although on some occasions the leadership has been shared with another Port Authority.
