The Fresh Fish Producers’ Organization of the Port of Vigo (OPPF‑4) and the Vigo Fish Marketers Association (Acopevi) have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of extending and harmonizing the use of the ‘Fresco&Salvaje’ seal. This agreement seeks to consolidate the Fresco&Salvaje seal throughout the entire supply chain, bringing a cohesive image of fresh and wild fish from the port to the end consumer. Among its objectives are the differentiation of fresh fish from extractive fishing, compared to other preservation methods, the unification of labeling, and the strengthening of the competitiveness of port operators.
In the words of the representatives of both entities, this initiative will overcome the current diversity of label formats, which hinders uniform product information and also positioning in national and international markets. Likewise, the agreement contemplates inviting the Vigo Port Authority to join as a strategic partner. Both parties have agreed to develop a joint work plan for the years 2025-2026, which will structure the actions, deadlines, and responsibilities to guarantee the deployment and success of the harmonized labeling.
Quality Seal
The signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of both organizations: Juan Manuel López, on behalf of Acopevi, and Daniel Castro Gordejuela, representing the OPPF-4. This agreement reinforces OPPF-4’s commitment to quality, responsibility, and transparency, pillars of the Fresco&Salvaje seal, and contributes to consolidating the port of Vigo as a benchmark of excellence in the trade and distribution of fresh and wild fish.
