Last night, the oil tanker named “Virat” was hit off the coast of Kastamonu’s Doğanyurt district, and this morning it was attacked again with unmanned sea vehicles. The personnel on the foreign-flagged vessel had refused the evacuation request.

In the latest statement from the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, it was announced that work has begun to tow the vessel, which has damage above the waterline on its hull, to the Türkeli Anchorage Area. The statement said, “The latest situation regarding the Virat vessel: The towing operation for the vessel, which has damage above the waterline on its hull, began today at 17:5, and the vessel is expected to arrive in Türkeli at 13:00 on December 1, 2025. The process is being monitored.”
