The VIRAT tanker ship, attacked in international waters, has begun to be towed from the dangerous zone in the Black Sea to a safe area. The ship’s movement is being carried out accompanied by a tugboat belonging to a private company.

The ship reached international waters off Sarıyer in the Black Sea. Authorities announced that Virat will be transferred to a port or a safe waiting area in the coming hours. While no serious fire broke out on the ship after the attack, hull damage and crew safety are being closely monitored.

Maritime security authorities stated that maritime traffic in the area is under control and additional measures have been taken to prevent similar attacks. The incident is considered a serious risk for the safety of commercial ships and international maritime transport in the Black Sea.
