Genoa – Hitachi Rail announces in a statement that it has completed the signaling system for the new railway line of the Progetto Unico Terzo Valico dei Giovi: nodo di Genova, also known as the Quadruplicamento Voltri-Sampierdarena. ‘The project – the statement explains – offers, on the Voltri-Sampierdarena section, an alternative route for long-distance trains and allows for the improvement of traffic on the coastal section, which can be more specifically dedicated to urban metropolitan traffic. The Quadruplicamento of the section will constitute the western entrance gate of the under-construction Terzo Valico dei Giovi, which will connect the city of Genoa and its port system – one of the most important port systems in the European Union – to the European TEN-T network that ends in Rotterdam, Holland, also passing through Switzerland and Germany’
