Mr. Martinos was honored for his great contribution to the Omogeneia of the City and especially for his generous donation to the Theological School of Halki, which, after almost three years of work, is approaching its full restoration.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew emphasized that the name of Mr. Martinos will remain indelibly engraved in the memory of the Omogeneia, also making reference to a series of further donations of his to community and ecclesiastical works in Constantinople, Tenedos and elsewhere.
For his part, Mr. Martinos noted that “Halki is not merely a historic building; it is a preeminent spiritual and cultural symbol of Orthodoxy.”
