Scorpio Tankers is the seller of the four MR tanker vessels, which Torm, in connection with its quarterly report last week, announced it has entered an agreement to purchase at a unit price of 32 million dollars.

Now, Splash writes, based on industry sources, that the four newly acquired Torm ships are the Scorpio tankers STI Battery, STI Venere, STI Milwaukee, and STI Yorkville – all built in 2014 and equipped with scrubbers.

Although the agreement has been made now, the deal is not expected to be finalized and all four ships taken over until during the 1st quarter of 2026.

Although the tanker market shows signs of normalization with lower freight rates after the record years, Torm delivered its strongest quarterly result of the year so far in the third quarter.

The adjusted EBITDA amounted to 159.4 million dollars compared to 190.9 million dollars in the same period last year, while the net result landed at 77.6 million dollars, which is significantly lower than the 130.7 million dollars in the 3rd quarter of 2024.

In the first nine months of the year, Torm realized an operating result before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 426.0 million dollars compared to 709 million dollars last year, which, according to Torm, reflects “a more normalized market situation”.
