During September 2025, Terminal Puerto Coquimbo (TPC) continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark multipurpose port in the region with the reception of project cargo, highlighting its contribution to the development of mining, industries, and energy generation.

In this sense, the BBC Dakota transported blades, mining equipment, and drill rigs with a total of 300 tons, destined for large-scale productive projects. “These cargoes reinforce the infrastructure and logistics of mining, as well as other strategic industries in the region,” remarked the concessionaire of the Port of Coquimbo.

For its part, the Hosei Liberty unloaded 22 modules, with a total weight of 497 tons, “consolidating TPC’s capacity in project cargo operations and showing the port’s experience in handling highly complex shipments,” emphasized TPC.

The BBC Rhonetal arrived with 9 drill machines and additional parts (101 tons), complementing the regional mining infrastructure and ensuring the availability of specialized equipment for different productive operations.

Likewise, the vessels BBC Maryland and EVA transported a combination of mining equipment and containers, totaling more than 1,500 tons, which “contributes to consolidating the logistics chain of the extractive industry and to reinforcing the region’s connectivity with international markets,” underlined TPC.

Meanwhile, the Sjard arrived with 97 pieces of mining equipment (589 tons). “This operation reinforces the availability of specialized machinery for mining and energy projects and consolidates TPC’s position as a strategic port for the sustainable development of the area,” specified the port operator.

“These unloadings reflect the importance of TPC not only as a cargo transfer port but as an engine of economic and sustainable development for the Coquimbo region. The reception of mining equipment and industrial modules allows for progress in renewable energy, infrastructure, and responsible mining projects, strengthening regional productivity and competitiveness,” it added.

For her part, Laura Chiuminatto, general manager of TPC, commented that “each shipment that arrives at TPC represents much more than a logistical operation: it is a direct boost to the economic development of our region, generating employment opportunities, strengthening productive infrastructure, and ensuring the continuity of strategic projects.”

“Furthermore, it contributes to the growth of key industries such as mining and sustainable energy, sectors that are fundamental for regional progress. We are proud that, through our daily work, TPC not only connects Chile with the world but also tangibly contributes to the well-being and future of our community,” she added.

In turn, the Regional Presidential Delegate of Coquimbo, Galo Luna Penna, indicated that “from the Government of President Gabriel Boric, we value the growth of private enterprise, especially when two strategic areas for the region and the country are complemented, such as port activity and mining.”

“From this perspective, we are interested in the economy growing to generate better employment opportunities for the people of the region, since at the same time this type of shipment helps to stimulate the regional economy, also providing opportunities to different local entrepreneurs, and in particular, in promoting mining activity as a main contribution to the country’s development,” he added.
