Recently, two digital projects—the Equipment Management System (Phase I) and the Shipbuilding Production Control Platform (Phase II)—developed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry were successfully accepted and officially launched for trial operation at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan).
As an important platform for advancing lean shipbuilding management and digital transformation at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan), the Phase II project of the Shipbuilding Production Control Platform builds upon the Phase I achievement of full lifecycle information management from design to delivery. It focuses on in-depth development for the complex scenario of parallel construction of multiple ship types. Under the group’s top-level design framework, the project team actively integrated cutting-edge technologies such as cloud services, cloud computing, and big data to establish a three-tier digital lean management system spanning “company-department-workshop” levels.
The core breakthrough of the Shipbuilding Production Control Platform (Phase II) lies in the successful development and deployment of key functional modules such as intelligent scheduling, dynamic task assignment, and real-time monitoring. By breaking down data barriers across core processes like design, materials, production, and quality, the platform achieves comprehensive data aggregation and sharing, enhancing planning coordination efficiency and production process transparency. This provides robust technical support and decision-making foundations for lean shipbuilding.
Currently, the platform has been deeply applied to planning modules at the workshop execution level. Data shows that the platform has assigned over a thousand tasks, improving overall production efficiency by 40%, achieving 100% dynamic tracking of production processes, and increasing planning accuracy by 20%. The accompanying visual intelligent control center dynamically displays real-time production status at each stage, enabling managers to monitor progress and respond swiftly to changes.
The Equipment Management System (Phase I) aims for “full lifecycle management and intelligent, efficient maintenance,” integrating the entire equipment management process. Compared to the previous fragmented, paper-based approach, the system enhances the digital and intelligent levels of equipment management, providing strong technical support for production safety and cost efficiency.
The system enables full lifecycle data management of equipment from warehousing to decommissioning, ensuring accurate and consistent data. With the introduction of predictive maintenance mechanisms, equipment downtime has been reduced by approximately 30%. It also supports on-site inspections, task execution, and real-time data uploads, improving response speed by about 50%.
The successful launch of the Equipment Management System (Phase I) and the Shipbuilding Production Control Platform (Phase II) marks a new milestone in the digital construction of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan). The application of these two platforms further enhances the company’s production management efficiency and equipment operation and maintenance capabilities.
