Humber Freeport reported that Uniper submitted plans for a green hydrogen production facility at its Killingholme site, in North Lincolnshire, UK.

The plans for the 120 MW facility are part of Phillips 66’s plans to reduce scope one emissions at its Humber refinery, by switching from gas to green hydrogen.

Pending approval, the hydrogen facility would supply Phillips 66 from 2029, creating over 100 jobs during construction, along with broader opportunities in the supply chain.

“This is an important step to obtain the necessary permission to build this plant at our Killingholme site. The availability of low-carbon hydrogen will be essential for the retention of industry in the Humber region and for economic growth. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with stakeholders as we work to make the Humber H2ub project a reality,” said Guy Phillips, Head of Hydrogen Business Development Team for Uniper in the UK.
