“Shunfuda” Sets Sail Ahead of Schedule
Recently, Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry successfully completed the repair work on the bulk carrier “Shunfuda,” with the vessel setting sail two days ahead of schedule. Despite the tight repair timeline and numerous unexpected emergent tasks, the project management team delivered all repair items with high quality, leveraging excellent technical skills and efficient service, earning praise from the shipowner.
The repair work included the renewal of bottom plates in multiple cargo holds, cleaning of fuel oil tanks, and overhaul of core mechanical and electrical equipment such as the main engine and generators. During the dry-docking repair, the shipowner required a comprehensive inspection of the vessel to thoroughly eliminate potential hazards in all equipment.
During the dock-side construction phase, engineering personnel discovered cracks on the outer bottom plate of the ballast tank during on-site inspection, posing a risk of leakage. The project management team promptly initiated an emergency response plan, coordinated various construction resources, and efficiently completed the emergency repair. The cleaning of the fuel oil tanks was completed to high standards in less than one day. The steel structure renewal work on the outer shell adopted a continuous, uninterrupted operation mode to firmly secure the vessel’s undocking schedule.
After the vessel successfully set sail, the shipowner’s technical superintendent highly commended the project management team, praising their proactive responsibility, efficient coordination, superb technical skills, and strong overall capabilities, expressing anticipation for future cooperation in ship repair business.
