The Cattewater Harbour Commissioners (CHC), of the Port of Plymouth, announced the launch of their new Sustainability Strategy, focused on three themes: People, Planet, and Prosperity.

CHC developed the plan to define the way Cattewater Harbour will operate and grow to achieve the Commissioners’ Vision of an enduring Trust Port; provide safety measures for the commissioners and stakeholders to specify tactical actions to achieve sustainability; and confirm the principles used to drive risk-based change.

The CHC Sustainability Strategy will be maintained and updated as appropriate in response to the dynamic port context and the changing opportunities and challenges of stakeholders.

Lisa Lewis, Harbour Master for Safety and Sustainability at Cattewater Harbour, stated that “our newly launched Sustainability Strategy is an ambitious and necessary roadmap that tells us how we will continue to support and help grow the region’s economy, while becoming a more sustainable port.”

The commissioners also created a specific Sustainability Fund with a total annual value of USD 20,000, designed to provide financial support to individuals, businesses, and local groups undertaking projects aligned with the core themes of the Sustainability Strategy: People, Planet, and Prosperity.

The Cattewater Harbour Commissioners are the legal and competent port authority for the commercial port of Plymouth. As a Trust Port, their mandate is to manage the harbour for the long-term benefit of its users, the community, and the environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the port, while promoting sustainable growth.
