The modernization project of the North Access at the Port of Montevideo advanced with the completion of tests on the new scales. The action involved the participation of the various stakeholders involved in its implementation.
This initiative is part of an investment promoted by the National Port Administration (ANP) of Uruguay of approximately USD 10 million, aimed at streamlining logistics operations, improving entry efficiency, and continuing to advance the transformation of the capital’s port facility into a smart port.
The event took place at the new control center built within the Port of Montevideo and made it possible to verify the correct functioning of the weighing system, the circulation of goods, and automated control for the entry and exit of cargo vehicles.
The project provides for the continuous operation of 16 scales (8 entry and 8 exit), in addition to a lane designated for oversized loads.
The new system will make it possible to collect information automatically and interact with other agencies, in particular with the National Customs Directorate (DNA), to determine the route each truck must follow, optimizing controls and reducing entry times to the port facility.
