Technology group Wärtsilä will expand its main spare parts distribution centre in Kampen, the Netherlands, by forty per cent. The company will also consolidate nearby leased storage facilities into the Kampen site.
Wärtsilä will invest EUR 14 million in expanding the facility, with construction set to begin in early 2026 and commissioning scheduled for 2027.
Central Distribution Centre in Kampen
The company’s distribution centre in Kampen was established in 2009. It is the company’s primary spare parts hub and an integral part of the Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services (WGLS) serving both customers in marine and energy globally /365. Wärtsilä’s global network of services comprises of six spare parts warehouses, 44 workshops, and 3400 field service and workshop professionals.
The facility features a highly automated warehousing operation, ground storage for large components, as well as dedicated areas for inbound, picking, and packing operations. In addition, Wärtsilä is committed to a zero-waste supply chain, collaborating with suppliers and customers to reduce environmental impact. In the Central Distribution Centre in Kampen, ecofriendly packaging initiatives have reduced plastic use by 67 per cent, compared to 2022, saving approximately 35 tonnes of plastic per year.
All domestic truck transport from the Kampen distribution centre uses fossil-free HVO100 fuel, cutting CO2 emissions by ninety per cent.
