On August 12, the reporter learned from Wenzhou Port Group that as of August 10, the “Wenzhou-Lishui” sea-river intermodal transport business volume this year exceeded 14,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 150%, surpassing the total for all of last year.
The “Wenzhou-Lishui” sea-river intermodal route was officially launched on December 25, 2024, as a key project under the Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou open corridor. The route uses Wenxi Operation Area in Qingtian Port Area of Lishui Port as the inland river port and Qili Port Area of Wenzhou Port as the sea-river transshipment port, with a total length of 33 nautical miles. In 2025, it completed a business volume exceeding 12,500 TEUs.
Since the beginning of this year, container volume on the route has continued to climb with strong growth momentum, mainly thanks to the innovative “same port, same price” policy implemented by Wenzhou and Lishui, as well as the “zero freight” measure for waterway transit during the policy period. Import goods arriving at Qili Port Area of Wenzhou Port are deemed to have arrived at Wenxi Operation Area of Lishui Port, and export goods delivered to Wenxi Operation Area of Lishui Port are deemed to have been delivered to Qili Port Area of Wenzhou Port. The intermediate waterway freight does not need to be borne by enterprises. According to estimates, logistics costs for Lishui enterprises shipping goods from Wenxi Operation Area by water to Qili Port Area of Wenzhou Port are reduced by more than 30% on average compared with traditional road transport, significantly enhancing the route’s competitiveness.
In terms of cargo source organization, Wenzhou Port has made every effort to improve the quality and efficiency of sea-river intermodal transport. In April this year, the first sea-river intermodal “domestic-to-international” business was successfully completed—a batch of luggage and bags exported from the Lishui area departed from Wenxi Operation Area, traveled via the Oujiang inland river route to Qili Port Area of Wenzhou Port, and was then seamlessly transshipped by barge to Zhuangyuan’ao Port Area, achieving seamless “water-to-water transshipment.” This not only opened a new sea-river intermodal channel for the southwestern Zhejiang hinterland to export via Wenzhou, but also further enriched the cargo source structure of the route, injecting lasting momentum for subsequent volume growth.
