The Port of Foyle concluded a successful 2025 cruise season, with 19 calls, 46% more than the previous year, and attracting a diverse range of international visitors to the Northwest region of Northern Ireland.

This year’s cruise schedule included ships from 11 cruise lines, five maiden calls and the first participation of the luxury line Windstar Cruises, whose ship Star Legend made its debut in the port.

In total, 6,930 people arrived in the region. Of the 3,940 passengers, almost half were from the United States (48%), followed by Germany (20%), the United Kingdom (13%), France (5%) and Canada (4%).

Depending on the ship’s size and tidal conditions, vessels were welcomed at Greencastle Harbour or at the Lisahally Commercial Port.

Bill McCann, Harbour Master and Operations Director for the Port of Foyle, commented that “we are delighted with the development of the season this year. The increase in calls and the variety of visitors highlight the growing reputation of the Port of Foyle as a key gateway for cruise tourism in the Northwest. We look forward to continuing to build on this success and showcasing our region’s unique location as a gateway to the historic city of Derry-Londonderry and to two of the world’s most iconic coastal routes, the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coast”.

The success of the 2025 season underlines the Port of Foyle’s commitment to strengthening the region’s tourism profile and supporting local economic growth through the cruise industry.
