The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced that a worker was found unconscious at the Tuas Port Phase 2 construction worksite.

The incident took place on 29 July at approximately 9.00 am local time according to MPA’s media release on 31 July.

The individual was found to be an employee of Penta Ocean-Hyundai-Boskalis Joint Venture.

The MPA reported that a cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered by the worksite safety coordinator.

He was taken to the hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force and passed away in the evening on the same day.

The MPA and the contractor are reportedly providing support to the family of the victim, meanwhile investigations are currently ongoing.

Tuas Port Phase 2’s reclamation works commenced in March 2018. MPA had completed all caisson fabrications in April 2022.

The project saw 227 10-storey tall caissons used to form 9.1 kilometre of seawall for Phase 2.

MPA has also commenced the planning for Tuas Port Phase 3.

In September 2022, PSA Corporation Ltd (PSA) inaugurated Tuas Port, with the first three berths operational at Phase One of the development.
