On August 4, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) and Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. (YCMP) held a signing ceremony in Qidong for the construction contract of 2+2 sets of 6X52DF-A-1.0-iSCR ammonia dual-fuel main engines for 51,000 cubic meter ammonia dual-fuel medium-sized/liquid ammonia carriers. Mr. Wei Guangsheng, Assistant General Manager of CIMC SOE, and Mr. Xu Zhenhua, Deputy General Manager of YCMP, signed the contract on behalf of their respective companies. Mr. Gao Wenbao, Vice President of CIMC Enric and General Manager of CIMC SOE, Mr. Deng Hui, General Manager of YCMP, and other relevant leaders witnessed the signing.

The cooperation between CIMC SOE and YCMP began in 2019 when YCMP supplied two RT-flex50DF low-pressure low-speed LNG dual-fuel main engines for the world’s largest 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunkering vessel built by CIMC SOE at the time. Since then, the two parties have maintained close collaboration. CIMC SOE continued to select YCMP’s 13 X52DF series LNG dual-fuel main engines for its 20,000 cubic meter LNG transportation and bunkering vessel series. With the addition of the newly signed 2+2 sets of 6X52DF-A-1.0-iSCR ammonia dual-fuel main engines, CIMC SOE has now chosen a total of 17 dual-fuel main engines from YCMP, making it one of YCMP’s most important dual-fuel main engine customers.

Mr. Gao Wenbao, Vice President of CIMC Enric and General Manager of CIMC SOE, stated that CIMC SOE possesses first-class design and construction capabilities in the international small and medium-sized liquefied gas transportation and bunkering vessel sector, holding a leading position in this niche market. The newly signed 51,000 cubic meter ammonia dual-fuel medium-sized/liquid ammonia carriers are currently the world’s largest medium-sized gas carriers and the first of their kind globally to adopt full ammonia fuel propulsion with a capacity exceeding 51,000 cubic meters, representing an important direction for the future of green shipping. He noted that successfully securing the order from Norwegian shipowner Amon Gas for 2+2 51,000 cubic meter ammonia dual-fuel medium-sized/liquid ammonia carriers reflects the market and customers’ full trust and recognition of CIMC SOE. He expressed hope that YCMP, as a strategic supplier of CIMC SOE, would continue to uphold high standards and strict requirements to deliver the 6X52DF-A-1.0-iSCR ammonia dual-fuel main engines as premium products.

Mr. Deng Hui, General Manager of YCMP, expressed gratitude for CIMC SOE’s long-standing trust and support. He highlighted that since delivering the world’s first low-pressure low-speed dual-fuel main engine, the 5RT-flex50DF, in 2015, YCMP has continuously deepened its expertise in the dual-fuel main engine field. By the end of 2025, with the completion and operation of the ammonia fuel supply station, YCMP will become China’s first low-speed engine manufacturer capable of producing and delivering dual-fuel low-speed engines powered by natural gas, methanol, and liquid ammonia. He pledged that YCMP would live up to expectations, leverage its strengths in dual-fuel low-speed engine R&D and manufacturing, and work closely with CIMC SOE to provide robust support for building a new benchmark in ammonia-fueled medium-sized gas carriers.

Both parties stated that they would take this signing as a new opportunity to further strengthen the foundation of their strategic cooperation, jointly promote the development of green shipping, and provide practical pathways for the low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.
