Marco Eduardo Durán, manager of Derivative and Industrialized Products of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), assured that the state oil company will guarantee the supply of gasoline necessary for the correct development of the second round elections, scheduled for October 19. This will be done through the unloading of 50 million liters of fuel via the Sica Sica Terminal located in Arica, Chile.
The landing process is expected to take place during the morning of Wednesday, October 15, when an operational window should open at the maritime station managed by YPFB.
To date, the oil tankers Symphony (flag of Gambia) and Beast (flag of Sierra Leone) are waiting in the bay of Arica. Furthermore, the arrival of two vessels with diesel is expected between October 21 and 23.
Durán emphasized that by Tuesday, October 14, 100% distribution of gasoline in Bolivia will be reached, guaranteeing that the fuel supply is available for the days leading up to and during the elections.
However, he warned that, to ensure the operation of the 600 tanker trucks currently stranded at the Santa Cruz refinery, it will be essential to have the necessary dollars to cover the corresponding payments.
