On November 25, the main hull of the multi-functional offshore engineering vessel project, built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Group (ZPMC) for CNOOC Shenzhen Offshore Engineering Technology Service Co., Ltd., was successfully connected and completed at Zhenhua Offshore.

The vessel has an overall length of 126 meters, a beam of 28 meters, a deck area of approximately 2,000 square meters, a cargo capacity of about 4,000 tons, an endurance of 60 days, and a range of 15,000 nautical miles. It is equipped with one main crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 400 tons and one auxiliary crane of 50 tons. Fitted with an electric propulsion system and a DP2 (CBNV) dynamic positioning system, it possesses functions such as autonomous navigation in open waters, assisted berthing and unberthing, ship energy efficiency monitoring, and fault diagnosis. Furthermore, it can carry equipment including a 3,000-ton-class cable reel, work-class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), a saturation diving system, and an underwater trencher. It possesses comprehensive operational capabilities for the installation of subsea pipelines, cables, and structures, seabed surveys, and transport support.

To ensure the high-precision and high-quality connection of the main hull, the project team organized multiple rounds of technical disclosure and risk pre-control assessments. They meticulously coordinated the interface and collaboration among various stages, including interior outfitting construction, block lifting, pre-embedding for outfitting, scaffolding erection, and painting construction. This approach achieved improvements in the completeness of the vessel’s outfitting, block integration efficiency, construction precision, and quality, successfully fulfilling the predetermined objectives.

Having deep experience in the offshore engineering equipment sector for many years, Zhenhua Offshore has consistently implemented the national strategy of building China into a strong maritime country and continuously increased innovation investment. It has successfully delivered multiple internationally advanced offshore engineering equipment. The successful connection of this main hull not only marks a significant achievement in the deepened cooperation between the company and CNOOC Shenzhen Offshore Engineering Technology Service but also represents a concentrated reflection of China’s independent construction capability for high-end offshore equipment. After being put into service, this vessel will further enhance the intelligence and efficiency levels of China’s offshore engineering operations, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the marine economy.
