According to the Piraeus Port Authority, the meeting took place at the organization’s headquarters between executives of the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) led by the Deputy CEO of PPA S.A., Angelos Karakostas, and a high-level delegation from Israel, aiming to strengthen Greek-Israeli cooperation in the sectors of ports, shipping and infrastructure.

The delegation included, among others, Shlomi Fogel, Chairman of Israel Shipyards, Zvika Schechterman, CEO of Israel Shipyards, and Hezi Halavia, Chairman of Israel Ports Company, and Pinhas Tsruya, CEO of Israel Ports Company.

A substantive exchange of views took place regarding the prospects for cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, port infrastructure, connectivity of trade corridors and new investment opportunities emerging in the region.

In this context, Greece and Israel emerge as pivotal partners and gateways for transit trade and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, with ports playing a decisive role in shaping new supply chains and trade flows.

During the meeting and the subsequent tour of the port facilities, the common will was confirmed for further development of synergies in the fields of port development, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation and stability in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
