Peel Ports Group, the second largest port operator in the United Kingdom, named Jonathan Rayner as its Commercial Director, strengthening the executive team as the company advances its long-term growth strategy.

Jonathan joins the group from London Luton Airport, where he served in the same role since 2020. His previous career includes high-level commercial and operational positions in airports and infrastructure organizations.

In his new position at Peel Ports Group, Rayner will take a role on the Executive Committee, where he will work to align commercial measures with the company’s overall strategic objectives. He will oversee the group’s comprehensive commercial strategy, generating and developing opportunities and driving growth across all markets.

The new appointment follows Stephen Carr’s decision to leave the position of group commercial director at the end of November.

Stephen joined Peel Ports Group in 2009 and was involved in the execution of numerous strategic projects, including the Liverpool2 container terminal. Carr will continue to work part-time for the group as Director of Public Affairs, supporting the company’s collaboration with national policymakers.

Claudio Veritiero, Chief Executive Officer of Peel Ports Group, stated that “it is a pleasure to welcome Jonathan to the company as Commercial Director. Jonathan’s extensive experience in complex transport and infrastructure environments, along with his expertise in reframing commercial strategies and driving sustainable revenue, will be invaluable for the future of the organization.”

“We are deeply grateful for Stephen’s significant contributions over the years and I want to express my thanks for his leadership, which has helped shape our company into what it is today. I am pleased that he will continue to support our public relations activity, representing the group at a national level,” commented Veritiero.
