Anglo-Eastern Univan Group has launched its new Sustainability and Performance Services (SAPS), a digital platform designed to support charterers and commercial operators in addressing maritime decarbonisation, improving vessel performance, and reducing fuel costs.

The service combines artificial intelligence with real-time vessel and voyage data to optimise fuel consumption, improve route planning, and ensure compliance with evolving environmental regulations.

According to the company, SAPS addresses challenges posed by the EU Emissions Trading System, FuelEU, the Carbon Intensity Indicator, and other regulatory frameworks. It includes seven service categories covering crew training, vessel performance monitoring and optimisation, AI-enabled forecasting, charter-specific performance contracts, paint performance advisory, and environmental and compliance audits.

Chief Commercial Officer Niraj Nanda said, “SAPS exemplifies Anglo-Eastern’s dedication to innovation and sustainable shipping. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, we help our clients significantly reduce fuel consumption – one of the largest operational expenses – while navigating the growing complexity and cost of compliance. With regulatory requirements evolving rapidly, the cost of staying compliant now often exceeds fuel costs themselves. SAPS provides the intelligence and tools needed to manage both efficiently.”

Between 2023 and 2025, SAPS systems monitored more than 800 vessels over about 46,000 voyages. Anglo-Eastern trained over 4,300 crew members in vessel optimisation and analysed more than 739,000 performance reports.

The company reports that these efforts reduced CO₂ emissions by over 700,000 metric tonnes and fuel usage by more than 225,000 metric tonnes, generating savings of approximately USD 135 million.

Anglo-Eastern Univan Group is a privately held global ship management company headquartered in Hong Kong. It provides technical management, crew management, and training services to shipowners and operators worldwide. The group manages one of the world’s largest fleets of commercial vessels, serving various sectors of the maritime industry including bulk carriers, tankers, and container ships.
