April China textile and apparel exports up 44.7% month-on-month

BEIJING, May 11 (China News Service) — Reporter Ruan Yulin learned from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles on the 11th that in April, China’s textile and apparel exports reached 24.06 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5% and a month-on-month increase of 44.7%.

In April, China’s textile and apparel exports operated steadily, with exports showing a significant month-on-month rebound and a slight year-on-year decline in both RMB and US dollar terms. The latest data shows that in US dollar terms, in April, China’s textile and apparel exports were 24.06 billion US dollars, down 0.5% year-on-year and up 44.7% month-on-month. Among them, textile exports were 12.71 billion US dollars, up 1% year-on-year and 47.4% month-on-month; apparel exports were 11.35 billion US dollars, down 2.2% year-on-year and up 41.7% month-on-month.

From January to April, China’s cumulative textile and apparel exports were 91.13 billion US dollars, up 0.8% year-on-year. Among them, textile exports were 46.9 billion US dollars, up 2.3% year-on-year; apparel exports were 44.23 billion US dollars, down 0.9% year-on-year.

The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles stated that looking ahead to the second quarter, China’s textile and apparel exports still face challenges such as the escalation of geopolitical risks and the relatively slow economic development of key markets. However, the combined support of factors such as China’s stable economy, sufficient energy supply, and domestic institutional opening-up policies has injected positive expectations for the improvement of the export environment for the textile and apparel industry in the second quarter.
